Elephant Building Project is one of the high-rise building which consisted of official buildings, residential buildings and plaza, approximately 68,000 sq.m. The quantity of wastewater is 1,150 cu.m./day. It will be treated before discharged to the water source according to Act of Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment entitled setting the effluent standard of the kind of and size of building.

The above mentioned effluent standard has been settled on size of the project area. Bigger size of the project has been strictly settled the effluent standard than the small one because the wastewater quantity will be higher and increased more impact on the environment. When consider to the size of the project area was found that the effluent standard of the building A where is the highest such as septic tank-filtration tank. Even, the wastewater treatment system: processed tank can not be treated the wastewater on the effluent standard. Therefore, it is necessary to design of the wastewater treatment system on the effluent standard. Furthermore, Thamthani Co., Ltd. has a policy to recycle the wastewater treated for saving the resources and protecting the environment. Water recycled design was settled on the effluent standard for save the consumer.

Thamthani Co., Ltd. has assigned PTC to carry out detailed design of the wastewater treatment and water recycled systems in the Elephant Building.

The wastewater treatment system was designed in accordance with the existing of wastewater treatment system. It was Activated-sludge process wastewater treatment system and was a kind of sequencing batch reactor which can remove Nitrogen and Phosphorus by Biological process. The potential of the wastewater treatment system designed can storage the wastewater flow rate with approximately 1,150 cu.m./day and BOD of 325 mg./l. Water treated will be on the effluent standard of the BMA Act entitled control of wastewater drainage.

Wastewater from the aggregated wastewater treatment system was used in water recycled system in the project. It was also used in flushing system and planting. Water recycling will be on the effluent standard for save the consumer. The waste recycled system was designed on the standard of US EPA and used Direct Filtration system, Dual Media Pressure Filter and GAC Pressure Filter, due to filtration in high flow rate, but need small space. It was suitable for the building where have a limited space. Disinfection system: Ultraviolet rays is high effectiveness and low cost of the maintenance and operation. The system was designed for recycling water, with a capacity of 500 cu.m./day.
