Progress Technology Consultants Co., Ltd. provided construction supervision services for the construction of Nakhon Ratchasima Municipality Wastewater Collection and Treatment Systems (Phase 2) Project.Nakhon Ratchasima has the largest population in the northeast, ranked second after Bangkok. Nakhon Ratchasima has been designated as a main center of the northeastern regional administration,communication and transportation, commercial business and trade affairs, investment, education, social services and industrial development. The Municipality has greatly expanded in recent years due to fast expansion of industrial development in the communities surrounding the Municipality. The expansion over the years has cause considerable deterioration of water quality in Lam Takhong River, which flows through the Municipality, mainly due to the discharge of untreated sewage. The river has become unsuitable to be used as raw water for the municipal water supply system. The existing wastewater treatment plant capacity is inadequate to treat wastewater currently generated in the municipal area. The drainage system is also inadequate resulting in frequent flooding in certain areas.
The Municipality had commissioned PTC to undertake the construction supervision for the Drainage, Wastewater Collection and Wastewater Treatment Systems (Phase 1 Project), the work was completed in 2002. Subsequently, the Municipality contracted PTC to undertake the detailed design of Phase 2 of the Wastewater Collection and Wastewater Treatment Systems Improvement Project, the work was completed in 2001. The Municipality then commissions PTC for the construction supervision of Wastewater Collection and Treatment Systems for Nakhon Ratchasima Municipality
(Phase 2) Project The services provided in this contract comprise :
- Review of the detailed design for Phase 2 Works and undertake revisions where necessary to suit current conditions.
- Undertake the construction supervision works which include reviewing shop drawings, issuing revisions where necessary, materials and equipment approval, supervising, inspecting and measuring construction, inspecting materials and equipment delivered on site, witnessing tests of materials and equipment, checking and certifying all payment claims, clarifying and interpreting the contract, monitoring construction schedule and progress, supervising plant commissioning, and operation and maintenance staff training. PTC undertook coordination among all parties involved such as the Municipality, main contractor, subcontractors and other governmental agencies.
- Undertake the revision of the previous wastewater tariff study to reflect the actual operation and maintenance costs for the constructed Phase 1 of wastewater collection and wastewater treatment systems. As well as proposing an appropriate and public-approved tariff collection system, and organization.
