Nonthaburi locates in Bangkok Metropolitan Region, on Chao Phraya river's side. Nonthaburi municipality, now grows rapidly, so resulting in the increase in water pollution problem.

This project area is about 38.5 km2 with population of 640,700 and wastewater quantity about 260,000 cu.m./d. For wastewater characteristic, BOD concentration is about 120 mg./l., COD concentration is about 200 mg./l., TKN of 30 mg./l., SS of 120 mg./l. and TP of 8 mg.as P/l.
